Apothecary. Alchemist.

Both titles conjure up thoughts of a universal healer. Headache, heartache, skin conditions... issues that have not changed in history and will remain in our futures. Universal ailments. I set out on this journey to try to help mend what is broken and to protect what is right and well.

Mel's Magic Tonic is something I created because I saw a need for it. I have been doing hair and makeup my entire life, I was the kid who brought other kids home after school for makeovers, in making them look different, they could feel different. Feel happy. Feel pretty. Feel popular. It's amazing how the little things can make such a huge difference. I took that gift to New York City where I did the same thing, only for bands gracing the covers of Rolling Stone and actors in Vanity Fair.

In 2011 I started a charitable cause with my sister to take makeovers on the road to give those who have felt the loss of disaster and hardship a fresh outlook. Over the years I developed a lot of product knowledge, but was still constantly making mixtures of several products or makeups to create what I needed for the job. I started making makeup when I wanted control of the pigments, less additives and fillers, more getting to the point of the color. Then I kept hearing the same story of razor bumps and sensitive skin and aversions to shaving and/or beard growing. So I set out to find a product that worked without being harsh on the skin or oily or too much maintenance for the average man.

When I couldn't find one I took to the lab (my kitchen). Some trial and error and some incredibly soft elbows later, I had created my masterpiece. One product. Pre-shave, aftershave, beard conditioner, cleanser, moisturizer. An all natural all around super healing magic tonic of love. I think it's all the love that makes the difference.
